Suzuki C18 Neck Reset

Post by Dave Gentner »

Does anyone have any experience with a Suzuki C18 guitar? I've been asked to reset the neck on an old one, and I'm wondering what I might be in for. Hoping it's not one of those epoxied dovetails with no gap.

You may not even have a dovetail. Many imports have 3 dowels holding the neck on. One option is to saw off the neck and convert it to a bolt-on. But this is not a sure thing. I won't take these kind of guitars in for a reset as there is too much liability.

That's pretty much what I told the guy, Barry. Plus the repair is going to be more than the guitar is worth, but there's sentimental value there. He wants the guitar for his granddaughter.
