Sorry for the confusion. I was quoting Dan Erlewine's DVD on neck re-sets and that is what he said word for word. I agree with both you and Mark though, the only way it makes sense would be the middle of the saddle. That's what I was basing this re-set on.

I've got it back together again. Here it is being clamped.

Here's the completed neck set with french polish touch up. I also ended up putting a very shallow shim under the fingerboard extension. I figured anchoring it to the top would make the instrument more stable. I'll finish finish touch up tomorrow and string it up.

Thanks everyone! This was my second neck re-set so I'm still new to this. I tweaked the finish touch ups and strung it up. I had a slight hump where the body joined the neck I had to flatten out that caused some buzzing but I was able to flatten it out with a fret file and light sanding. The action comes in just under 1/16th at the 12th fret so I probably took a hair too much off the heel when I did the final sanding but a paper thin shim of Mahogany under the bridge seemed to take care of that as well.

The instrument reminds me of another Regal instrument I have, an "Octophone". It's an octave mandolin, and looks pretty much like a stretched-out version of this mandolin. It is built in a similar way too with the solid block between the two points and the rest of the sides are one long piece bent all the way 'round.

I missed the chance to buy one of those back in my starving artist days. They are actually pretty cool instruments.
