Odd Gstring sounds

Hi I have 2 two strat copies I built years ago. Both have Schaller 3D bridges. Both exhibit odd noises on the G string with some amp settings, it's a kind of an overtone sound. Usually happens around the 10 to 15th frets. It can be influenced to some extent by the amps setting, especially once you r...

Re: String height at the twelfth fret 25.4 scale

Why do you all measure in imperial?? ;)

Being born in 69 UK, I tend to use inches for big stuff and mm for the small stuff. Odd. I think people who use imperial tend not go to the lowest common denominator. My dad was an engineer, he didn't.

Re: Ringing on my G notes.

Fixed it. Caused by the d string nut slot. Just needed a little more relief to allow the string to bend. Sounds great again.

Cheers

Re: Does the left brain plate tuning method work for completed guitars?

Thanks for the replies. Are there any printed guides to the method you use Alan? And, can that method be employed post build? I read some of David's book on google books and he talks about test the top prior to gluing the bridge on.

Thanks again.

Does the left brain plate tuning method work for completed guitars?

I am interested in buying this book. It's on amazon uk for £137  Although I won't be having it if I can't get it cheaper.

Thanks

Ringing on my G notes.

Hi chaps, it's been a long time since I've been on here. Hope you're all well. I received so much help here with my first acoustic. Deb will be a big miss! My acoustic, which I completed about 3 years ago, has started ringing on the G notes. It sounds like a muted harmonic. It's really bugging me. A...
