Re: New Classical
Thanks for the nice comments. I've already got two more started. Is this nuts or what? I do love it so.

Re: New Classical
Charlie,
I indeed took a closeup of this, uh, unusual rosette and it came out mighty fuzzy. Looks like I've got to update my camera equipment as it doesn't focus properly up close. This instrument is local, but not close enough for an up close shot today, should I try it again. Sorry.

New Classical
Copy (1) of SDC11595.JPG Copy (1) of SDC11591.JPG I started this classical the day after Christmas of 2012 and finished it early February. It's gone now to a good player and I'm late getting this posted, but here 'tis. The back and sides are figured mahogany and the top is sitka spruce. The bracing...

Re: 1900 guitar needs an update--help
As a follow up, I made another bridge using the original pins as requested by the owner. However, I cut about 1/4" off the small ends of the pins which saved about one gram each. The bridge was originally ebony and I made a new one of hand picked lightweight EIR. I dyed it black to match the or...

Re: 1900 guitar needs an update--help
I told him that this is a small guitar and no matter what, it will only sound so big. The only reason I suggested going pinless was to save weight. Surely this would make some difference????? But he wants the pin look because that looks original. What sort of visual trickery could I use to indicate ...

1900 guitar needs an update--help
Copy (1) of IMG_1624.JPG[/attachment]I changed out the top of this old instrument about two years ago. The maker is unknown. The sides are walnut and the back appears to be sycamore. I removed the top at the owner's request, a very thick spruce top with ladder bracing, and replaced it with a much th...

Re: Brazilian RW/Spruce Classical "Assegai"
Gorgeous guitar and obvious beautiful craftsmanship. But is it a left handed or right handed model?

Classical bridge question
It's been a while since I've been on. Moved, new shop, etc. I have a new classical I'll be posting pictures of in a couple of weeks, but I have a question regarding some really heavy and dense Brazilian rosewood I have that I'm considering making the bridge from. It's quite oily and I worry about ho...
