Gower Acoustic Neck Reset
Hi, Anyone pulled the neck off of a Nashville 60's Gower Acoustic? I heard they have typical dovetail construction and pulled the 15th but am not finding a gap with my drill. Anyone know more about these before I put some heat in there? TIA

Alnico types and sound differences - a Physics expliantion?
Imagine a theoretical pickup with all things being equal but with interchangeable magnets. Different magnet types in this pickup will yield different sounds. Besides the maximum level of charge attainable by the different grades, is there more of an explanation of WHY they sound different out there?...

"Sectioning" Winding a pickup coil
I have heard mention of people using a technique called "sectioning" in winding a pickup. Does anyone know what this is referring to? Thanks!

Mystery Guitar Truss Rod Repair
I have an unknown guitar that a customer is set on getting restored. I took the neck off and the rod fell out on the floor. There is an aluminum channel in the neck. Anyone come across this rod before and know what is in the neck before I start dissecting it? Thanks!

Re: Pelham Blue for waterbourne
Thanks Pete! I have another Createx that I have yet to try for compatibility but now that I know someone who used it I am encouraged! Did you use it straight or mixed in with your finish? I am using General Finishes Poly and High Performance. I will order the Metallic Blue Silver to try it!

Replacement for Novus 2
I am running out of my big bottle of Novus 2 scratch remover. I use it for fine scratches and cleaning very dirty guitars. I am sure it is some Meguiars product. Does anyone know the equivalent? Thanks!

Re: ACME Archtops _ Are they still in business?
He did sell the business to a Jonathan who I had been emailing before Covid. He was doing a new 339 style after I told him about it and was almost done with the molds when I stopped hearing from him.

ACME Archtops _ Are they still in business?
Has anyone heard from Jonathan at ACME Archtops in Pennsylvania? I don't see a web presence any more. They made great plates for 335/339 and other archtop guitars. Thanks!

Re: High Resistance Low output
Found the start was not full connected and could not get a connection due to the wire not being long enough to make it into the grommet. Rewind! It was an old SD2 from the 80's
THanks!

High Resistance Low output
I have a single coil that has a resistance of 500+ K Ohms and weak output but there is output. What could be the problem?
It is not degaussed and not a phase issue. This is the pickup by itself.
Thanks!

I like it! I would still like to find some that are 1/8 taller than standard out of the box. Any injection molders out there?!?!

Bolt On Neck Inserts - Isn't 8/32 is small ?
I was looking at moving my bolt on necks to threaded insets and bolts rather than wood screws. It looks like people are using 8/32 bolts. Is it me or is that to small? What are you using? Thanks

Bronze Powder Ratios
I just got several boxes filled with different color bronzing powder form the 30's and the 40's from an estate sale. I am currently spraying GF waterbased finishes. To just do a top what kind of ratios of powder to finish do you recommend? I would like good coverage hopefully in one coat but don't w...

Re: Pickup Magnet Charging Question
Thanks Barry, that makes sense. Just to experiment I left a bar in my jig for 15 min. and it never went up beyond 450ish. Does mass limit the charge irregardless of grade of Alnico?

Pickup Magnet Charging Question
Magnet question. When I charge rod magnets I get them in the 750 to 1000 range. When I charge bar magnets they get into the 350 to 500 range? Same grade of Alnico. I use the same set up for both with neos.
Why are my bar magnets not taking the same charge?

Re: Ground wire issue
Thanks Barry! I would use a strat PU for example, no base plate. I just wanted to double check my instinct that the shielding would be effective.
