Re: Do you ever just buy jigs? Feeling guilty, but swamped

Nothing wrong with that. I build most jigs because I can’t afford some and out of necessity. Sometimes it’s fun to create some and I figure it helps to keep from getting demented. 😀 But building is a hobby and somewhat a passion for me. A lot to do with creativity and an artistic outlet in many ways...

Re: Metal resonator "Body only" or damaged for parts instrument for sale

Are you still looking to just buy a body?
I have a Tricone body with cutaway.
Actually have 2 that were built in that tutorial.
One plated and one not.

Re: Stella 12 String (Leadbelly) plans

I have a screen shot of the Stefan Grossman Stella also. I sent an email to Todd also. I haven’t been over at OLF for awhile or here as a matter of fact. Not sure if I remember my password. Took me a few tries to get online here too.😀 But the Grossman drawing is pretty good. Looks like it is on tabl...

Stella 12 String (Leadbelly) plans

I’m looking for a set of plans or even just a body tracing.
I found a drawing with measurements on line . So a body tracing would be nice to have. I could work out the rest.
Anyone know where I might find one ?

Re: The Everyman Guitar

Thanks About 60 hrs a plate probably about 10 more on the back since it was really my first carving. That's not counting the designing either. I think someome who knows what they are doing and does it a lot could probably do it way faster. Mark, watching me fumble through it was bad enough without h...

Re: Jeffrey Elliott Chip carving Rosette advice

I haven't done it but seems like gluing the donut first would be a good idea. Probably with the grain running at 90 degrees from the top.

Re: Starting Front Head Stock

I may be ready for the finish but can't just yet decide if I want to do something with the 1" space between the slots and beneath the point. I worked on deepening and evening out the stipple pattern and better defining the shapes with some undercutting and also with the stipple work. sanded the...

Re: Starting Front Head Stock

It's a low relief or Bas relief carving. There are two sites that one can join for about $10 a month, http://www.marymaycarving.com/carvingschool/ and Chris Pye's http://www.woodcarvingworkshops.tv/home . They give you basic wood carving technic that you will have to transpose down to a micro level....

Finally ruffed in. Some shaping, accent lines, under cuts and etc. left then finish. I think I'm going to like it. :)

Re: Starting Front Head Stock

Did some ruffing in. Canned the white line transfer paper (lines too thick for me and they kept getting rubbed off. Went back to just gluing on the paper drawing and scoring in the lines with a knife and chisels. Time for a beer... http://i712.photobucket.com/albums/ww128/chrispaulick/Front%20head/2...
