electric bass
I made an electric violin which was basically a single piece of wood and would like to make a fretless (could have painted frets) bass instrument in a similar fashion and I wonder if any one would have a pattern of such a thing

Sansula
Has any one any tips on how to make a Sansula (which seems to be a kalimba mounted on a stretched skin) Would the skin be stretched on an open backed frame or closed? and how would the kalimba bit be stuck to the skin? This is so far just an idea floating round in my head. How to stretch the skin on...

Mandolin bridge question
Not too sure whether to make new questions added to the same post on same instrument or start new one, so I opted for the latter My commercially made bridge collapsed so I have decided to make one but this poses a question about the compensated bit,the one I had pair forward pair back pair forward p...

more mandolin questions
I am wondering and worried about pickup wiring, what happens when or if it goes bung after being sealed up in an A with F holes? Do you remove back or make a trapdoor in back or side? or remove back? what sort of glue should I use on back to make it repairable? have been using gorilla pva on the rest...

Treat inside of mandolin
do you varnish or oil finish the inside of a mandolin? (I was thinking of doing the bit where I want to stick some piezo pickups.)
Tried google with the same question and got no where, just commercial makers waffling about their finishes and the odd one telling how to finish the outside.

Re: Tuner winders
On my violin the worm is away but it is still apparently wrong because clockwise tightens it.
I have the strings on the wrong side of the post as I originally thought clockwise to tighten.

Re: Electronic violin
Disclaimer - I don't play violin, don't own one, and have never made one. That is my problem till now, have made a strum stick and half made a mandolin. I saw someone had made a violin from a bit of 2x4 so I thought I would give it a go but he did not say much about rests. With that said... how abo...

Re: banjo mandolin??
I was thinking of attempting to rebuild with new materials using existing as a guide but do you think it would be better to try repairing what is there keeping its character?
