Conn Neck Reset

A friend is bringing me a Conn acoustic guitar from the early '70s for a neck reset. Does anyone have any idea as to what kind of neck joint I can expect?

If it's like the one I did a few years ago, it's a bolted in butt joint, inlet into the body about 1/8". Under the fingerboard extension was a sliding dovetail, and I can't remember if it was glued or not. There was one metric hangerboltat the bottom of the heel.

I may have some photos of this; I'll check.

Jeff thanks for the info. How did you get it unglued. Did you steam it? If so, where?

I know its not, but that heel-block looks like OSB.

Chuck, that's just the various layers of the side lamination where things got pulled apart.

Got it apart. Sliding dovetail just like Jeff said. Glue everywhere. Steamed through the 14th until I got a small opening of the butt joint, then steamed through that opening. After much wobbling from the peghead I was able to enlarge the opening of the butt joint. More steam finally made it come loose. Thanks again Jeff, you saved me a lot of misery.

Glad to help!

Isn't that just the damnedest thing?
