Electro-acoustic help

Post by Charlie Dickinson »

I am joiner and I have finally got round to building my own acoustic guitar. I know what to do to build the guitar itself but I would like to make an electro-acoustic because that is what I really need. I haven't got a clue what to do with all of the electrics though. Could someone please tell me what to do? Do you just buy a pickup and wire it in or is there maybe a kit I could buy with everything I would need? Can someone please help? :)

Check with Stewart McDonald. They have various pickup kits for this type of setup.

It might matter what you need it for. How loud do you need to get? Are you hoping to use it with an effect? Do you have defined budget constraints? The design of the guitar and the design of the pickup system ideally would be integrated from the start.
