want to build a dc powered pickup winder
Would a dc power supply from a computer work for a dc 24 volt vari speed motor? Ive seen better larger dc power supplys but they seem over kill and 75.00 is out of the budget. A used computer dc supply might run 25.00. Im not savy on dc power so please edumacate me. thanks

Hi Greg,
Please note that we require the use of real first and last names on the forum, please PM your particulars to me and I can fix up your registration, thanks.
As for the DC motor, the PC power supply would probably provide enough current, but you'd have to check what your particular motor needs as far as current. Also, does the motor already have some speed control built in or are you looking for that too?

did you think of trying to modify a sewing machine? the motor is already controllable by a foot pedal and comes with its own power supply.
