Make your own? We have had a lot of previous discussions here on the process. I have made a few and its not too difficult once you get a few issues worked out. Ken Macay used to make and sell laminated plates. You might want to contact him. https://www.kenmckayguitars.com/order Hi! Can I find any v...

Re: Tagelharpa, Jouhikko or Bowed Lyre construction
I recently constructed (and attempted to play) a primitive bowed lyre called a "Tagelharpa". The construction couldn't be simpler or more primitive. I haven't tried making homemade horse hair strings yet (I'm using gut) but I did make the horehair bow. There is an active Tagelharpa commun...

Re: An Oud Arbi I built (with construction progress pictures)
I finished this instrument about a month ago now. It's an oud arbi, which is a traditional type of oud from North-west Africa (it's played mainly in Morocco, Tunisia and Alergia). It has 4 courses instead of the 6 courses of the standard oud (also called oud sharqi, meaning eastern oud for comparis...

Re: Neck removal on Martin 12 string
No...the neck tenon is glued in the mortise. The neck bolt is basically a clamping device. You still need to steam the neck off. What kind of glue is more suitable for such reparing? The reason I'm asking is that I need to replace neck on my squier and I want to buy Fender's neck (I think it has mo...

Does anybody remember a website that used to get referenced a lot on here (May have been the old MIMF)? It had loads of free to download blueprints in PDF, DWG, and DXF files. If I recall correctly it was a guy's name but, who knows at this point, it's been years since it's even crossed my mind. Th...

Our school district kicks off the year with two or three days of enrichment classes. Today, I helped three middle schoolers walk away with simple, homely but functional banjos. We had three hours to stretch the head, attach the neck and install tuners. The results were ok, but the reactions were gr...

I thought that musicians who creates instruments can understand the beauty of creation music in scores. So there is a link to this score and I'm waiting for your feedback about my work.
