Re: Advice on water-based spray finish
Thanks Phil. I'm going to try an HPLV turbine unit and I bought the Target EM 6000. Saw a lot of good reviews with that lacquer. I've been very busy at my real job so still not quite ready to finish yet. Soon I hope.

Re: First Build - Building from a kit vs building from Scratch?
I'm a little late to this post but with a little vacation time I'm finally browsing the forum a bit. I'm working slowly on my #2 and will be finishing soon. I built my #1 from scratch and playing it for the first time was so satisfying that I must recommend the same. Now, I have to mention that I've...

Re: Advice on water-based spray finish
Gordon and Bob...thanks for the great responses and advice. My plan is to buy a HVLP system (been thinking about that for a long time) and use a set up like Bob described. I can spray a test case or two first and see if the gun supplied will work for me. I am working on a dreadnaught of indian rosew...

Advice on water-based spray finish
I'm an experienced woodworker turned luthier (working on #2). My finish experience with nitrocellulose lacquer is limited to the spray cans, with OK results. I don't have a spray booth but sprayed outdoors. I'm thinking of spraying the water-based lacquer that StewMac sells: Target Emtech 7000HBL. I...

Re: Tips for leveling a finish?
On my first build I used micromesh only and after burning through the finish here and there I did more spraying. After a couple more small burn-throughs I got some very good experience doing drop fills! My experience (and patience) have improved much in the year and a half since then but I learned a...

Re: Alternate acoustic tops
Have not built a hardwood topped guitar but have an Alverez-Yairi all-koa 6-string. Great acoustic-electric sound but lower volume and less bass acoustically. On the reclaimed wood thread here, the photos show a build with left-over walnut from furniture work and cedar from the hardware store scrap ...

OK, I'm back on my laptop finally to try posting. I was not able to select "browse" on my iPhone but I could post text with no problem and see images already posted. Just thought I would post a pic of my first build, finished a little over a year ago. This is a collage of images actually. ...

That "online" notice is very nice too Charlie. Found the photo upload option. It seems to be inactive. I'll try on my laptop.

Nathan, I love that BS wood. That is going to look great. Charlie, this is from my iPhone in case that's of interest. I'm trying to see if I can post a pic with my response...not sure. I selected "quick reply."
