Various issues with Tuning Keys, old Vantage Bass
Hello all, Seeing how helpful everyone was on the electronics side, I thought I would get assistance on a different issue with my used Vantage Bass; Tuning Key issues - the E and A tuners seem to adjust ok but go out of tune after a few songs (more easily than other instruments in my experience) - t...

Re: Interesting buzzing sound after attempted self repair with no prior experience.
There was a previous buzz sound that was really bad but it seems to have disappeared, and just a normal one remains. I am just plugging directly into a USB powered interface into a Mac Mini to record. I did a recording on my iPod touch through an iRig, and didn't hear any buzz at all. Same desk and ...

Re: Interesting buzzing sound after attempted self repair with no prior experience.
The pots are now functioning properly after I joined a cable between them, but the hum still exists for some reason unless my fingers are on the other strings, I have uploaded an audio file

Re: Interesting buzzing sound after attempted self repair with no prior experience.
So... I got a soldering station and kit, and gave it another try. I don't think the green resistor is working and may just end up getting another kit with pots. I went exactly by the wiring diagram here - http://cdn.seymourduncan.com/images/support/schematics/std_pbass.jpg The buzz seemed to come ba...

Re: Interesting buzzing sound after attempted self repair with no prior experience.
Do you think that it would be worthwhile to just remove all the solder and re-solder cables, grounds so that it is neater and easier to keep track of?

Re: Interesting buzzing sound after attempted self repair with no prior experience.
I tried soldering this a few years back and it looks pretty bad. Black and white cables are coming from the pickup, there is a blue wire with a dot of solder that I attempted to connect to the ground wire I snipped by accident. It is really hard to see, I think I am just going to resolder everything...

Re: Interesting buzzing sound after attempted self repair with no prior experience.
Do you think I should get new pots and wires or just attempt to resolder the existing stuff?
One weird thing is that the volume knob only turns the volume down so far but not completely. The tone knob seems to work ok

Re: Interesting buzzing sound after attempted self repair with no prior experience.
It was stuck but yeah I eventually get them moving and was able to get a wire under the bridge. I had some speaker wire that I found in the garage. So the issue subsided a bit, now if my hands are on the strings or bridge there is no buzz, but if I play an open note the buzz comes back. Before, I ha...

Re: Interesting buzzing sound after attempted self repair with no prior experience.
Thanks for the suggestions, I am about to get a small allen wrench and get the saddles out of the way so I can unscrew the bridge and try the wire thing.

Re: Interesting buzzing sound after attempted self repair with no prior experience.
This is not terribly complicated work but as the plumber always tells me "it ain't the doin', its the knowin' ". Maybe time to just purchase a cheap bass to practice with? I eventually want to buy a nicer one but I am going to have to get a lot better to justify purchasing a more expensiv...

Interesting buzzing sound after attempted self repair with no prior experience.
 I got a second-hand Vantage bass and attempted to wire in a new 1/4" jack, but ended up snapping some sort of metal that extends between the bridge and pickups through the body to the first potentiometer. I have been unsuccessful in getting rid of this buzz that only goes away when I tou...
