The heating blankets are from ebay, as are the chunks of aluminum. I'd previously cooked out the skijump, you can sorta see the fallaway.

Re: Flat frets on Alvarez Guitar?
You would have to crown them old school with a triangular file or grind and sand down a concave crowning file as needed to get to the center of the low frets without scuffing up the board. I'll point out that you can buy new fret wire that's only .036" tall so there are folk out there in the s...

I've seen that exact same break on those Epi Pauls. Really punky, inferior wood.

This strikes me as a good time to see if you could add a threaded insert/machine screw to the neckjoint.

Ah, the wonders of the AMJ & AMG! And a de-facto lesson in converting to a bolt-on.

Re: Cracked/split heel
Those guitars are actually pretty nice guitars, being made in Japan in the 70's. I am a fan of those "red label" Yamahas. Most of the time, they will need a neck reset. This is the perfect time to do that, I'd take the neck out, repair it and reset it. Agree with Mark--if this guitar does...

Re: Ibanez AE405TV -- Neck Reset or . . . ?
This guitar will be a screaming, raving bitch to reset; you have both AMJ & AMG to contend with, NTM that it's a full cutaway. I wouldn't even try to steam it off, I'd loosen the fingerboard tongue--which may give you some idea of the AMG's tenacity, or lack of it--saw through the heel, and conv...

Re: Internal Acoustic Jack Plate?
What about K&K piezo installation with a Bridge DR.? I didn't see anyone comment on this at Stewmac. Is it possible? Does it interfere and make installation problematic? In what order would you install on an acoustic undergoing restoration(neck off)? I've done quite a few K&K installs on JL...

Re: Conn Neck Reset
If it's like the one I did a few years ago, it's a bolted in butt joint, inlet into the body about 1/8". Under the fingerboard extension was a sliding dovetail, and I can't remember if it was glued or not. There was one metric hangerboltat the bottom of the heel. I may have some photos of this;...

Re: Neck Joint Yamaha APX-4-12
If it were mine, I'd do a saw-off at the heel, and convert it to a bolt on.
