Looking for tunings and string size for electric tenor

Post by Jim Bonnell »

I'm getting close to finishing an electric tenor guitar I've been working on for awhile. I'm trying to decide on what tuning to use and the appropriate string sizes. Anyone play tenor that can suggest something?

Great to hear... I've been thinking about making an electric tenor for a while... I've got two acoustics: a '32 Martin and a '27 National Tricone. They both have 23" scale length, and I found D'addario makes strings specifically for tenor guitars (steel strings). I'm using standard tenor tuning, which is in 5ths, I believe.

Jim,
Tunings for the tenor are from the 4th to the 1st string - C G D A or "Chicago tuning" - D G B E
