Re: My latest - a cherry parlor
Really nice guitar, and beautiful sound. Doesn't it just amaze you what you can get out of a parlor?
As to the discussions about resawing Osage orange, if you can get it green before it has dried, it cuts like butter. Resawn to 1/4 inch and stickered, it dries well and pretty quickly that thin, and is pretty easy to work with from there.

Interesting Randy. I never really thought about cutting it up green. I’m going to email the log recycler and ask him to contact me when he’s got a lot to cut up. Maybe I can buy a board or two before he put it in the kiln. I’ll get first pick of the verticals grain board in the middle of the log too.

Randy, can you make a comparison to another dried wood when sawing osage orange green. I know that is a difficult question but I'm trying to decide if cutting it green will be enough of an advantage. If "cuts like butter" means like (extreme example) cedar would be different than if it means like maple. . .

If you guys don't quit with this, I'm going to have to try my hand at some kind of acoustic guitar someday.
Beautiful, and beautiful-sounding guitar!!

Brian,
I guess cedar would be equivalent, if I'm remembering right when I cut up some cedar siding for tops years ago.
There is just no comparison wet vs dry. The down side is you have to wait for it to dry, but at a quarter inch thick, it isn't an unbearable wait. Just be sure to allow for shrinkage from drying when you cut it. Oh, and be prepared to have the shop turn neon yellow once you start sanding the stuff, but I guess you've had a taste of that already.

I'm pleased to repot that we drew the winning ticket today and did the final tally. We raised $3105 for a wonderful cause!

Great Job on this guitar Bryan.
I was able to play it and it really does sound a play wonderfully.
IMO, Bryan has produced a professional quality instrument, well worth the money it raised.

Bryan- Great combination of otherwise uncommon materials. I compliment you as much for the nice guitar project as for your generosity and ethical choice in helping those in need. Very special. Stay safe!-Bob
