A little adventure - early progress photo

Post by Mark Wybierala »

A few years ago I came across a photoshop'd picture of something like this that was very cool. The plan here is to basically build a stick ukelelle with a whammy bar and have it wear the violin body like a shirt. The scale length will be 18". The violin is a Chinese import student instrument that I received with a terrible back bow in the neck. My supplier replaced it. The bridge is a Squire bridge with the top plate and block cut down to four strings. The neck is eastern maple and will have no trussrod. I'm working on the bobbins for the pickups.

The back has been removed from the violin and I've cut the top for the neck. The neck is fretted for an 18" scale.
