Guild Neck Reset

Post by Dave Gentner »

I'm getting ready to pull the neck on a Guild F50 BLD. I've not done one of these before. Is there anything I need to watch out for? Is it a standard dovetail joint?

Yes, it's a dovetail. I've reset many of them without surprises.

If that guitar has a laminated neck be careful to get the joint apart quickly before the neck laminations begin to come apart. And if the heel starts coming apart it would be a good idea to have some hot hide glue ready to put in the separation and clamp it before it can cool. It would really be nice if it didn't need it.
