How to mark HD bridges

If it's not a guitar or a bass guitar discussion, and it's got strings, put it here.

How to mark HD bridges

Post by David Knutson »

I'm progressing with my HD build and I'm at the stage where I'm making the bridges. The plans I have are different from many of the HD i've seen online in that the top of the bridge is solid and will have a single piece of delrin across the top and not the alternating black/white pattern I've seen elsewhere.

I've notice that many HD have some mark on every 4th course. This is meant to assist in playing. What I don't know is what notes to start this on. Any suggestions on how to mark the bridges?

(Yes - I'm building an instrument I don't know how to play yet.)

My HD's don't have markings. I wouldn't worry about it.

I have a couple of HDs and neither of them has markings. My teacher never said anything about adding markers either. However, I did run across this pdf, and looking at page 10, there is a reference for adding markers at the root of the common major scales. https://www.westcoastharps.com/uploads/ ... lcimer.pdf
