Ok. I really couldn't decide what I wanted to build and I might run out of time with my other obligations right now, but heck, I'm in. I have some drawer fronts that my parents gave me from their new kitchen install as well as an old pallet that someone threw away back behind my house. I think those will come in handy. I also have an old (1940's?) piano sitting in my garage that came with my house. Still works, but attempts to sell it have been less than successful. Do really free items need a price? If so, it probably rules out the piano.

So, I think I'll build a double neck nylon string electric guitar and ukulele. Why? Why not!

Maybe you can use the zither pins that will come out of your piano and make a multi stringed / necked instrument...

Okay. Got a little done. Decided that I needed something to make a top out of, and taking apart the piano seems pretty daunting right now, so I broke down and cut up a cedar fence picket. I know it's the wrong species, but it smells good! I did manage to get a couple of pictures. Really just starting. Think I'll try and keep some of the drawer-front look and shape somehow.

I've wondered about using cedar fence boards since they are pretty readily available. This is a great "reclaimed" project idea and we all will learn a lot from how it comes out. Good idea.

Jacob, I can't wait to see what you're planning with this! I have a bit of a penchant for weird instruments, and your concept would certainly fit that bill.

Okay. I got a little bit done towards getting this thing started. I took the fence pieces to the shooting board and then joined them together using Mario's tape method. I then cut some of the excess off when they had dried. I also cut some of the pallet slats to a rough length and width. I planed those to get them straight and cleaned up a bit. Then I glued them up. I'd like to keep the "drawer front" look so I mocked up the body with one I removed the insert from and a solid front that will become the back. I'll get some photos up ASAP. Right now they're too big.

Yes Hans. It's going to be a semi-hollow double neck instrument. One side will be a ukulele and the other will be a nylon string guitar. It will end up being more an electric than acoustic in that the size and depth of the instrument won't facilitate much acousticness.
