Fred's 11 year archtop

Post by Fred Renner »

I started this one during Bill Moll's 2001 archtop class, actually I started two and ended up only finishing one back then and then got a little distracted. About 2 months ago I pulled out the pieces and decided it was time to put it together. Man, it's felt good to be back in the shop, and good to see names here on the forum I recognize.

Details:
Maple back, sides and neck. Spruce top. All from Bill's suggested wood source in Missouri back in 2001.
Rosewood fretboard, binding and finger rest.
Tru-oil finish.
Gotoh tuners

I love what you did with the binding -totally unique and very classy. The finger rest is also very stylish. Super job. Glad you got back to building.

Artsy headstock shot. Headstock shape influenced by looking at Michael Lewis website, his stuff is really cool.

Really nice Fred. Love the flame on the back.

Any change that MIMF will offer those classes in the future? That is really striking, and I'll echo the sentiment that it was worth the wait.
