Hello awl,

I'm 66 years old and have been making guitars for about the last 20 - 16 steel string, 10 classical and one electric rebuild. 40 years ago I made a bass bar and neck for an 1895 violin made by Phillip Scott of Carson City, Michigan that I bought for $35.

My last college transcript listed my major as "self enrichment" and I'm here for continuing education. I hope to contribute also but am guided by the adage that its better to remain silent and thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt. So I'd better cut this short.

Welcome Marshall. Don't be afraid to dive right in, the water's fine.

Welcome Marshall!

Yep, I hear you. Usually I open my mouth just enough to get my second foot in!

Thank you both.
I already did it. That violin was made by Frederick P. Scott. Got my Scotch mixed up.

Don't be shy. I'm one of the newbiest of the nubes, and no-one has yet made me feel stupid or ignorant (I can do that on my own quite well, thank you). Very good people 'round these parts...
