The Fender neck pockets would also be trapezoidal if extended (that is, narrower at the headstock end than the tail end by a few hundredths.)

Do you glue or bolt the neck, or is it just press fit?

How do you drill a 1/4" 19 inches long hole accurately through the neck? I would worry about the bit wandering.

Anyway, I like your creative ideas - keep them coming.
Maybe I can't fix it, but I can fix it so no one can fix it

The neck is pressed in and fits really tight. But I also install a standard Fender type neck plate. The neck can be removed and reinstalled.

To drill the hole. I use a really sharp bit and don't push very hard, and clear the chips a lot. I am am usually within 1/32" of my target.
I cut out the rough blank and then drill, then shape the neck around the hole.

Here's the head stock picture. This neck is made of Ipe with no finish at all.
