Here, for your viewing pleasure, is the second of two guitars that I recently complete. This one is a 00 sized body in quilted mahogany with a Douglas fir top. Neck is mahogany. Fretboard and bridge are thuya. Bindings and rosette are curly maple. Scale length is 24 3/4”. Initial impression is that the sound is very balanced with a good midrange bite.
Back when I was planning this guitar, I asked for thoughts or experience using thuya. Not much response but there were a couple of naysayers. I took that as a challenge and decided that it’s so pretty I had to give it a try. Obviously it hasn’t passed the test of time yet, but so far so good!
