Today even the first search was quite fast. In my case it might have been the https vs http. I generally set my browsers to try and force https so that could have caused an initial time-out. I have safari and have been using it for more than a decade. It is one of the suckiest browsers there is but I am used to it.

Could you tell me, in simple terms, what is the difference between https and http?

Thanks

Um, the letter 's'? [Self-administered whap]

https is the encrypted (therefore more secure) version of http.
