Alan, you know I love ya buddy, but I do wish you were not late to this party. :-)
I had some bleed - even through a shellac seal - which must have been too thin and wet at this point. I did not expect the epoxy to cary the dye. Like I said, I did the inlay soon after sealing, so i think this flower (which is the worst offender) was still wet. I'm not going to be able to re-do this.
I have to admit that I've learned a lot about marquetry in this exercise.

Chuck, that looks so nice. I would never have seen the bleed out if you hadn't mentioned it.

good thing it is on the fuzzy edge of a fuzzy flower. so, yea. thanks.

And, Alan, it is so funny that you mentioned exactly what happened - you are Mr. Experience.

If it really bothers you, inlay a shell hummingbird there. Or a little butterfly.

thanks Barry - but I'm over it. I need to crack-on. If the client is un-happy, I'll give them a discount. I actually have another commission on the heels of this, so ... crack-on.

Sorry about that.

That happened to me about 25 years ago, and, as we all tend to do, I really just wanted to forget the whole thing. The bleed I got from the black dyed veneer went out about 1/2" into a very white spruce top. There simple was no way to sand it all off. Aniline dyes can be tricky.

Chuck,
That ended up just gorgeous! I also never noticed any bleed out until you brought it up and I discovered if you click on the picture it enlarges, but if you then click on it a second time it enlarges the picture even more... took the second blowing it up to find what on earth you were talking about.

And outstanding job on the troughs, hard to believe they are free hand.

You now need to inlay the entire top of the next one with an entire flower bed (couldn't figure out how to spell bouquet)
