I have to drive 150mi round trip to get wood - I suppose it depends on where you're located. I go in person so I can look through it. Also, I only go when my wife wants to go shopping. :)

Maybe I can't fix it, but I can fix it so no one can fix it

I'm in South Carolina. Kinda hard to come by here. I hate not being able to choose my wood in person, and shipping cost is an issue too, of course.

Anybody know any place in Charlotte NC that might have it?

You didn't say where you were so I figured you were talking mail order. The people at Tree Products know their wood and sell to some factory guitar makers. But I'm with you about seeing the wood. Red alder is pretty common out here and I think I've seen it in the big box stores.

You might try calling a local arborist or saw mill.

Hello Pete; my sister lived in Chico for nearly 40 years and I visited often. I bought walnut from these folks. Thought I'd mention it since you go that way. Chico is a great place to hear music too. I miss going down there since they moved.

Thanks Marshall. I'm not traveling at all these days, but I'll keep it in mind if I get down that way again.
