Mycowood

Post by Peter Wilcox »

I just came across this concept and these articles, though it is several years old. Interesting. Soon we may be incubating our wood with rot fungi.

Overview and sound samples (I got it wrong): http://cen.acs.org/articles/90/i40/Fung ... istry.html

In depth: http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1 ... 524.x/full
Maybe I can't fix it, but I can fix it so no one can fix it

Interesting, this could help explain the tone qualities of the deadhead gulf cypress that I use in my builds. The "Pecky" and discoloration in such cypress is caused by fungus.
