24 AWG as pickup leads

I ran across a spool of 24 AWG stranded black and white twisted wire at the dump! Is this too thin to use as my pickup leads? Are there effects/problems of the different gauges of hookup wire? thanks!

Andrew,
24AWG is plenty stout enough to carry the 50mV of peak output from a pickup. After all the pickup coil wire is 42AWG. That's a nice find especially as it's stranded.

Heck, the pickups I tend to use run around 28 gauge wires. I'd love it if they were 24 gauge instead, it would be a bit easier to work with.

What gauge are you using as a lead off the magnet wire to get to the hookup wire of your humbuckers ?

Standard issue is foil shielded 4 conductor 28awg but 30awg is a little easier to cram in there. If you only need 2 conductor then a Mogami W2901 conductor ofc lavalier mic cabling is wonderful stuff.
