More pictures of the neck and roset/top inlays please. Love the looks of the bridge and the overall portions.

Using a router to joint wood.
Anybody use a Router sled for as a plane? I have some wood that I need to laminate and joint, but it's fairly rough right now and want to know what to use for the rails and what router bit to use. Would it be better to just use my 9 inch block plane?

Re: Tristan Williams - 8-string fanned fret Iceman-ish
Will there be any issues with having the same pickup for regular and bass registers? What are the "typical" stats on a bass pickup and a regular guitar pickup, and what are the compromises made when trying to mesh one into the other? Most of the multi-scale instruments that I've seen that ...

I'm looking forward to it too...but full disclaimer. I have started a few projects, but have yet to finish one. So this may turn out to be "by comity"

Re: Sam Hartpence - Wyoming "Beetle Bass"
My hope is that perhaps this build will create a bit of a market for it. I'm not sure how common this stuff is outside of the mountain west, but I love the figure. I may use some green streaked poplar for the neck as well...still brewing on that one.

Re: Sam Hartpence - Wyoming "Beetle Bass"
I've always wondered why there wasn't much of a market for this stuff. I think it'd make a great PineCaster.

$100 Local Materials Challenge,Sam Hartpence Wyoming Beetle Bass
Not much to post yet, but I thought I'd get the ball rolling. I should have my materials finalized and accumulated by next weekend.

Re: Guitar amps
I've got an Ampeg reissue TremJetII. It's a bit on the pricey side (near $700 if I recall correctly), and is very simple with just volume, one tone knob, reverb and tremolo, but actually has two inputs for different impedance and has been a warrior for the last 10 years and is quite versatile (altho...

Re: Guitar amps
To really trouble-shoot a guitar repair or a new build you probably just need something simple (perhaps with multiple impedance inputs for different pickups), don't need much power, and quite circuitry so you can pickup unwanted hums. Since you build basses as well, you probably would be better off ...

Re: Piezo and preamp into a solid body guitar/uke
Sam, that pickup is a magnetic soundhole pickup that needs steel strings, and it's large and wants six strings as well so it wouldn't work for Steve at all. When you go on the Shadow web-site there is a pop-up of a magnetic sound-hole pick-up. If you close out of that window, the "SH 064 4 Str...

Re: Piezo and preamp into a solid body guitar/uke
It looks like Kala uses this pick up for their Sub-Bass:

Looks like this is a passive system that could easily be routed through some on-board tone and volume controls.

Re: Piezo and preamp into a solid body guitar/uke
I'll be working in similar parameters soon. I was hopping to integrate standard electric guitar style pots for volume and tone in my build (as opposed to sliders) as well.

When I used to play bass for a orchestra, I played the prelude every morning when I woke up. Great way to start the day. It sounds very pleasant on the Uke too!
