Re: Tapping threads in neck for bolt on

This reminds me of liquid hide glue.
It will work, but if something goes wrong - it will fail catastrophically.
Then you will have to replace with a barrel bolt or a threaded insert. AND replace a broken FB and any top damage.
So, why not start there??

Re: Wood porn...

It's just a 4/4 x 5" board. Good for pretty headstock plates.

Re: Wood porn...

Gotcha' Judd.
This is the most beautiful piece of Honduras rosewood I've got.
I'm an ink freak, and I don't have a single tatoo.

Hey Judd, it sure does, but I can assure you it is cocobolo. The smell and the color (in person) is unmistakable.

Re: Wood porn...

I have been dying to build with this cocobolo for years. It will need to be a 4-piece back, but with this much ink, it is easy to hide the joint. I got it at the local Rockler - three planks of the most pathetic looking grungy old oxidized wood you ever saw. Literally looked like creosote soaked rai...

Re: Cardinal Lacquer from LMI - Anyone use it?

Thanks for the point toward OLF Clay. Seems to be a good product from all reports. Expensive maybe, but maybe I can get it cheaper from them direct - just up in LA.

Too much washing to do Randy.
What I know in my heart - is that I'd like to sell guitars. Nitro's not so bad, all the cool kids are doing it!
Plus, I want to get one of those giant buffing wheels that looks like a dozen t-shirts in a tornado!!

Cardinal Lacquer from LMI - Anyone use it?

Hey Peoples, Good to be in the new digs here. Anyhow... Title says most of my question. LMI has this new product from a pretty respectable paint company - Cardinal - and I was wondering if anyone has tried it yet. I'm just trying to remove myself from the stigma of spraying shellac, so I thought may...

Re: picture file size test

If you look at the chrome part of the capo below the neck, the reflections are all mangled in the first one. The second one is much better. And yes the silk in the spruce is a natural pixelator for the JPEG algorithm so it shows very blocky in the smaller image. On my Mac it is easy to see these dif...

I use a very similar tool myself.
Hopefully Louie sees this.
