Re: 100 mile guitar ??

Cherry works really well for backs and sides, and for necks too. I have used it quite a bit and continue to do so. Douglas fir has been used for necks too, Dan Erlewine likes it.
But for your fingerboard and bridge, it's well worth it to get the right stuff- rosewood or ebony.

Re: ...all this earthing stuff..

When I first looked at this discussion, I thought it said "earthLing" stuff. I had to wonder what the heck this was about! Then I read it and I see...here on this side of the pond we call the "earth" part of a circuit the "ground". All guitars need all of the grounds co...

Re: Scott French's "Eco Guitar" Project

That's a great guitar! I want to ask, what is FSC veneer? Everyone here on the MIMForum should get used to me asking what their abbreviations mean, because I often don't get them and even though everyone is not as thick as I am, many people still miss true meanings when they don't understand those t...

Re: Refret Rainsong WS1000

Use a pistol-grip type iron, and cut the tip off the end so that you have two un-connected points sticking out of the iron. When you place them both on the fret it will close the circuit so that it'll then heat the fret, along its whole length at one time. It helps to file little grooves in the end ...

Re: Neck angle, action

Usually a neck set is in order. A lot depends on how high it is now, and how much you want to lower it. if you just shave the bridge it can bring the strings too close to the top.

I would say that guitar probably has a dovetailed neck joint. That's my guess anyway! Let's see what some of the others say.

Re: Using Lathe for pickup winder

You can use double-stick tape to attach the bobbins for winding, works just fine. It's a balancing act between the speed of winding and the tension on the wire. Too little tension will produce a loose coil, and too much speed with not enough tension will cause the wind to be sloppy and all over the ...

Yes Mario I did open each up and toggle back and forth. I was just saying that at first glance in the smaller size the first one was my favorite.
I do agree with you on the size restriction, too.

Re: picture file size test

In each of the examples Mario, I like the first photo the best. Not sure which is which size but the first photo shows the best details to me.
When I open them in different tabs I can see the difference but in the small form here it's the first one that I like best.

Re: Poor Grounding Question - Stainless Steel

Do you have a voltmeter? If you have a meter you can test the ground connections that way and make sure that everything is getting the ground that you need and if so then that isn't the problem.

Re: picture file size test

Actually the first photo shows better detail to me because the second one is a bit lighter and that washes some details away.

Hi Craig, you're not missing anything...I was playing with the way the signatures work, and wondering if my new signature would create any conflicts. Since this new board is still testing, it's time now to work these things out. Now I'll have to run to Charlie and the rest of the Staff to see how we...

Re: Image Post Test

Hi Mark, that is a nice telecaster there...what kind of neck joint does it have? It's really a Gibson/tele clone if you ask me- with that bridge set up and those humbuckers anyway.
There must be something about guys named Mark and this kind of telecaster! Mine is very similar, same wood and bindings.

Re: First Acoustic Guitar •pics•

Cool, the pics look good too! Did you use a radius when you glued up the top and back? I didn't see a radius dish in the go-bar deck. You really should put the dome in the top and back.
