Re: Taking care of dust in the shop

is the Thien design scaleable various diameters? What might be the minimum and maximum diameters, and how wide would the circumferential slot be? Yes it is adaptable. Google it and you will find instruction online and a youtube video. I scaled mine to fit a large plastic refuse bin I already had. T...

Re: Taking care of dust in the shop

[quote="Eric Baack"]I build a thein dust separator and it works amazing. It's built into a 50 gallon drum that I acquired. I use it primarily on my CNC but sometimes drag it around the garage to use with other tools as well.

+1 I made one too and it works great and is very compact.

Another thought, why did you sand the top in the first place?

Re: White Spots on Spruce Top

The two darker spots look like you sanded through the top layer of spruce in the laminate. Also looks like the top has been coloured with stain or more likely tinted lacquer and the white areas are where you have sanded through the stain/lacquer to the bare wood. They could be touched up by re stain...

This is weird.

Info requested on Gallotone archtop

Hi. My friend manages a charity shop in Nailsea and this was recently handed in. He was told it is just like John Lennon used to play! Now I know Lennon played a Gallotone very early on but it was not like this I know. Tried doing some research online but could not find one like this. It appears to ...

Re: Has anyone ever tried making their own strings?

No I don't think so and for good reason. I think the tooling costs for a set up that would produce anything remotely usable would be prohibitively expensive unless you were going to sell thousands of them.

Re: Broken router collet. Why?

Just a thought but do you clean out the collet regularly. I lost a cutter once because the collet was all gummed up with fine dust and although it felt tight it was not gripping the shank properly. If it was gummed up perhaps that caused the collet to split|? Bob

Had a look but wood is moist when shipped and must be moist to be cold bent. Would be concerned about movement when it dries out. Bob
