Frets on the net

I needed to buy custom pickup surrounds, converting the stock 70s epiphone crestwood rings from a full sized humbucker to firebird mini buckers. I had problems with 2 of the main manufactures of wooden trim rings.after paying in full i waited 3 months only to hear he hadnt even started them ,even tho...

Re: Archtop bridge break angle

Thankyou for the input.loads of things to think thru here. When i asked the question i was thinking about 8-10 degrees,as on my other archtop with a hinged tail piece thats what i had. That archtop had a deep carve.noww if the arch is flatter how would that affect break angle? Lower break angle ?

Hot hide glue for binding repair

I may have asked this but do not remember the answers. I built a lp clone in 2002 and used stewmac iviord creme bingings and their duco cement. I noticed a 3 inch section in the cutaway area has come loose.ive been going back and forth wondering which method and which glue would be best. I dont use ...

Re: Does Nitrocellulose lacquer go bad in the can?

Lac wont go bad. Ive had a cider jar of it outside near the shed for over 12 years, its gone to a great maple surup color and i only now use it for touchups. I dont see any degrading of the lacqure although re adding thinners and good straining is necessary.when im done i cover the cap with plasitc e...

Re: Aging a china made zink cast bigsby

The ad indicated it was cast zink not aluminum.i suppose it could be anything.assuming its zink though does anyone know how to age it? I think pool acid , muratic acid like we use to etch concrete, will age galvanised sheet metal so ill try a diluted mixture, unless some one has other suggestions.

Ephiphone lp headstock break suggestions needed

I have a 2014 Epiphone lp and it fell and the head tore off right at the nut/ truss rod area. Its not a nice long tapered break but a break where the fibres are shortest.it didnt affect any of the head its a straight aacross break.so even if it could be meshed back together there would be no strengt...

Re: The Hossenfeffer Bass

I just saw this build thread.wonderful, dont think ive seen a more complete pictorial on a difficult bass to get good info for.
Ive had most of the parts needed to do a build like this, but many things blocked me because of lack of build info. Now i may put it back on the to do list.
