Re: Remo Mondo Snare repair
Remo drums are made in the same way as Sonotubes. http://www.sonotube.com/products.aspx
On some of them you can see the spiral wrap under the cosmetic covering. You should be able to glue it back into shape with cauls and clamps. I'd move the mount to another place.

Barry,
I used the MIMF archtop plans and just reduced the width of the sides. Everything else was as in the plans. Look in Builder's Supplies and Services for the MIMF plans.

Yes, in 2004 it it still straight and true. I use 11 flatwounds on it. At the time I was building it I ask Bill Moll about his thinline and he used a standard archtop heel.

No. The regular dovetail will work fine. Go to the archives library and search "thinline archtop" there are a number of very informative posts.Joe Lanza wrote: Should I be thinking about extending the neck block and using a mortise and tenon like an ES-335?

P.D.Q. Bach would have LOVED your instrument as it is now!
I Think Yuri is right it just needs fine tuning (pun intended) and set up.

Wow! I just got mine and I'm really impressed. Thanks, Steve. From the description I didn't understand that there are two magnets on the inside and they not only hold the part in the jaws but they also hold the parts together when not in use.

Murray,
Thanks for posting photos on the MIMF site. It would be really nice if members would post their photos on the MIMF site and not use third party sites. Photos that are posted here have a chance of being archived here but links to other sites often grow old and no longer connect.
