+1 for Veritas have the block plane and the low angle smoother and they are both great. The thicker blades made of much better steel make a huge difference. ooo bracing query

Hi I am about to start an all mahogany 000 and am using the stewmac plans. Has anyone used these plans and if so do you suggest any alterations to bracing heights and thicknesses as they look a bit chunky to me.

Thanks. The wood on the ukes fronts is lacewood. It is quarter sawn London Plane tree. Called London Plane because that is what lots of the trees on the streets on London are. First gig I ever went to was Bowie's Ziggy tour in 1972 at the Glasgow Apollo. Just amazing and his songs mean so much to me as a gawky teenager growing up in the early 70's and yes I did have a Bowie haircut! God bless you, your music will live forever, My favoutite... Chamges.

I read in a UK furniture making mag last month about using squid ink for ebonising. Produced a very natural deep black. Availabale online or from Italian food suppliers as it is used for cooking with pasta. May smell a bit but apparantly it dissappears after a day or so! Have not tried this myself y...
