I seal the color with shellac and then do System 3 epoxy pore fill and then I use KTM SV over the epoxy. On non porous woods like Spruce and Maple, I shoot the SV over the shellac.

I use the stewmac dyes in alcohol and I spray the burst and the tints for the side and back. I mask the purfling and the rosette before I spray the dye and then spray a couple of coats of shellac before I fill with system 3 epoxy.

That scale length seems standard for 1927 and 1928. In 1929 it changed to 24 3/4. I used medium strings and it is very easy to play.

I use the SB112 which is a laminating and coating resin. I am not sure if the epoxy glues are suitable for pore filling. Since I use small quantities I mix by weight rather than volume. If you are using a waterborne finish, epoxy makes a very good grain filler. I use system 3 and others have used z-poxy and west systems. I seal with shellac and then fill with epoxy usually two to three applications. Then follow your regular spraying or brushing schedule.

I use the Dragon Rasps and I like them as well.

For the Stew Mac dyes I use 50 drops of color to 4 oz of alcohol. I usually spray the color with a small detail gun or an air brush. I like the alcohol because it dries quickly and allows me to spray a number of coats to reach the desired depth of color without waiting a half an hour for it to dry. ...

When I open the can of Waterlox, I decant it into smaller 4 oz containers. As I use it I crush the smaller cans to keep the level of finish near the top of the can and store it upside down.

My understanding is opposite that. Along the grain is heel to tail and across the grain is treble to bass.

I would fill the existing slot with matching wood. Rather than a straight saddle, you might consider compensating it for each string. It would be a good exercise.
