Re: Multi-Strip Plastic Binding??
I remember a lp type binding vid with a guy with english accent. he taped at the endpin and the worked up one half typing and bending as he went. then he did the other side. As for the glue vs the acetone I likes thae he desolved the binding material in acetone, and filled gaps with it. But I guess ...

Re: anyone know what this is?
I think the stamp shows the date of manufacture
40.10.8
But that seems wrong as the style looks more 60ish.

Re: Noobish Confusion on Shielding
I just had friend take his guitar in to a repair shop (he does not live in may state I did not do the work) because he has humbuckers but he though it was just a little bit to noisy and he had the shielding work and now he said it is much quieter. I don't if it was placebo effect or not but the reco...

Re: Building a Fender Jaguar Neck
I have not yet tackled building a neck yet myself but I have removed a damaged fret board an installed a new fret board on the neck. So yes you definitely can have the neck built and apply a fret board. Are you doing any particular type of neck shape? Or is the neck a standard neck and the only thin...

Re: Understanding Neck Angle
I have seen guitars with T O M bridges that are recessed into the body and I thought that was a weird design because the access to the intonation screws seemed to be hindered. What advantage would there be to use a recessed tom bridge with zero neck angle over having a neck angle that did not requir...

Re: making wood guitar knobs
I have a circle cutting jig for use on a band saw, but I have used it on my bench sander with good results. It was not fast or clean but it worked well for the wheels I made fore a toy car. I was not thrilled about trying to cut something that small on the bandsaw to the belt sander seemed much safe...

I would say start in the real world and go to a music store and see what feels best to your hands, then take a few measurements, and plucg those number into your cad programJason Rodgers wrote:Are these dimensions based on an existing instrument that you have played and like?

Re: Hybrid Steinberger Complete
I wonder if the warmer tone your after might be in new pickups. I have not had emg bass pickups in an instument before but the emg's in the guitars I have worked on are not my favorite for playing clean they are a bit flat response. pulled them after just 2 days in my schecter. I put in passives and...

Re: Neck-Thu Build Pics
No the necks both were tapered up to the nut, the reason carvin gave for leaving the squareness up to the 19 fret was to have a flat surface to glue up the wings to. If you making an sg style then you don't need the blockyness so you finish shaping the neck but if they shaped it all the way to the 2...

Re: planning my first build
I bought 2 neck thru necks one from carvin and one from another seller. The carvin was 25 inch scale and the other was 25.5 both both were nice but the necks were not tapered all the way to the 24th fret I don't remember exactly were the blocky ness started, but I had to shape the necks to get the r...

I've seen chinese wilkinson pickups that are really cheap, as well as chinese wilkinson locking tuners, also the classic 2 posts Japanese Gotoh Wilkinson trem (I love that tremolo), but I just don't know if what Ebay is offering me are counterfeit products or are all of this really wilkinson produc...

Re: Neck-Thu Build Pics
Does the neck taper carry right through the body, or are the two wing straight faces parallel? I'm scratching my head on how to build this on mine. The fingerboard ends only about 1/2" into the body, but that creates a short transitional area where the neck is straight but the fingerboard is s...
