Re: Les Paul Gold Top Shattered Neck II
Interesting idea for a subforum. For now, I'd suggest the Jam Session.

Re: HG wheel surfaces
Simon is pretty close- rosin is applied to the wheel. Then as you turn the wheel, you feed in a *little* cotton or wool which will wrap around the strings. Both the rosin and the cotton have to be added from time to time. A strap really helps when it comes time to play it!

We've added "CAD/CAM/CNC - hardware and software and its uses in luthiery", just below the "Glues and Finishes" forum.

A new interview with Melvyn Hiscock, author of "Make Your Own Electric Guitar"
Most of you, I’m sure, know or own Melvyn’s book “Make Your Own Electric Guitar”. He is coming out with a 3rd edition which should be available around Christmas. Some of you will recall we had an interview with him back in 2010 (thanks to Clint Searcy). You can find that interview here: https://www....

Re: Anyone Building Spinets
Hi Al, You should (now) be able to post Excel files. Look for the "Attachment" tab at the bottom of the reply screen (just below the "Save draft"/"Preview"/"Submit" buttons). Click "Add files", select your file and then "Place inline" to ac...

New forum section
Hi all,
We've created a new forum section dedicated to ukuleles. I've moved over a number of *old* ukulele posts and unfortunately they show up as "unread". You can use "Mark all read" option if you want.

It's set up and I've move all the uke posts over. Unfortunately they show up as "unread" even though they are read (and old). If you see any I missed, please let me know.

We'll try it. I've added a ukes section and will try to move old uke discussions to it.

Re: Board index additions
The "Builders Groups" reference was only to show how a sub-forum looks at the board index level. If we were to create a sub-forum, it would be under "Other stringed instruments". A forum level "Ukes" would show up in the main index of course. The main reason for the cur...

Re: Board index additions
Been thinking about it Bob. We could add sub-forums under the "other stringed instruments" section for ukes if there were enough interest. E.g., if you look at the Board index, you'll see a "Builders groups" sub-forum listed under "Jam Session".

Re: “Keep me logged in”
Probably not the issue here, but I've noticed that some of my old bookmarks and shortcuts were http://www.mimf...
So if I was logged in via https://www.mimf... and then clicked an old shortcut or bookmark (that was still http:), it would show me as not logged in.

Re: “Keep me logged in”
I'm pretty sure the "keep me logged in" setting is in the cookies, so maybe delete the MIMF cookies and try? The cookies did change once or twice during the recent upgrade. Also it seems there is (or used to be) a setting in Safari to logout after X minutes. Likewise, a setting to block co...

Re: “Keep me logged in”
I don't use safari, but I found this: Turn off Private Browsing (iOS Safari) On an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, open Safari, then tap (bottom right corner). Tap Private (lower left corner) to turn private browsing off. While Private Browsing is on, Safari appears black or dark instead of white or gr...
