Good old Tru-Oil! My favorite.

I may have posted some progress shots a while back, when I thought I was about to finish it (wrong!). Here's the guitar. It's a little further along now.

Oh, and these are all holes previously drilled into the top of the guitar. No pickguard this time. The clutter isn't too bad, I just didn't find individual coil splits useful.

Ooh, I like the kill switch idea. Maybe that and a phase switch for the middle.

I think I'm going to stick with the 5-way since that's what I bought and it's a nice one.

I don't see any reason not to do it. My favorite part about bolt on necks is that it's easier to apply a finish to a separate neck and body, especially if you plan on using two different finishes. For example using an oil finish on the neck for the feel, but gloss lacquer on the body.

I would consider the Jazzmaster style tremolo (vibrato) another category, wouldn't you? I don't have a favorite style tremolo, but I do like the JM style quite a bit once it is set up correctly, and with a much steeper angle over the bridge than a JM has (my preference is a good roller bridge). Is that a lacquer finish? I want to gift a guitar to a family member someday, but I don't know if I could ever bring myself to spray lacquer without getting paid!

I haven't played too much with the finish yet, but it does seem like it will darken a moderate amount. It seems like an easy wood to polish to a nice sheen, so I'm expecting the tru-oil to go on nicely.

Haha thanks! Yeah often models don't quite look right unless you take the time to really contour things right, which I don't have the patience for.

I definitely think the mosrite bridge with Bigsby will work just fine even without a buzz stop. Just a warning, I got the mosrite style trem on ebay, that came with the mosrite style bridge, and I like the trem, but I'm not happy with the bridge. A couple of the rollers buzz when playing that string...

The whizzo buzz stop is what I was trying to think of too. It's meant for a jazzmaster trem, but you could mount it in front of something like the Mosrite trem too to lower the string height. I'm actually considering it just to get more break angle, but not sure how dumb it would look.
