Re: LP JR neck profile dimension question

Thanks again for everyone's input, it's greatly appreciated. I decided to bite the bullet and cut the neck down last weekend, I made it .89" at the 1st and 1.015" at the 12th. I'm much happier with the feel of the neck now and it still is on the beefier side as far as necks go. Mark, as fo...

Re: Tahitian Ukulele

I built one of these a couple of years ago after visiting Kauai and seeing one for the first time. It was difficult to find much construction info on-line but managed to scrounge enough. The cavity behind the soundboard is conical in shape, going from 6" or so in the front to 2" or so in t...

Re: LP JR neck profile dimension question

Guys, thanks for responding. I don't know waht it is, maybe I ask really dumb questions but very few prople respond to my posts? The plan that I found and used says Fuzz Research in the title block, so not the same as the Stew Mac. I thought the .95" and 1.15" sounded big but I know in the...

LP JR neck profile dimension question

I'm just finishing up my 10th instrument, a '59 LP junior. I made the neck to the specs on the print that I have, .95" at the 1st fret and 1.15" at the 12th. The neck feels huge to me, the first guitar I built ( a Telecaster ) had a similarly large, early Fender neck to it and I liked it. ...

Re: LP JR neck question

John, thanks for your response. I is exactly an LP jr double cut, the neck is angled at 2 degrees and the top surface of the neck (without fingerboard) is supposed to be flush with the top at the neck/body interface. The only difference is that I did not want to cover the beautiful wood with a pickg...

LP JR neck question

I'm sorry I should have a picture of this but I will try to explain my issue, the neck (without fingerboard) should be flush with the top of the guitar where it mates to the body but mine is raised about .05" above the top surface, I did not make the neck tenon quite deep enough. The guitar has...

Wraparound Bridge mounting

Do you drill the mounting holes for the bushings at an angle on modern wraparound bridges that have adjustable compensation? The only bridge I could find that specifically said you don't need to angle the mounting was the one from Stew-Mac that has fixed ridges on the top for compensation. I guess i...

Top distortions in first acoustic?

I just finished my first fully acoustic guitar, a classical. I sealed the guitar with shellac and then completed everything but the top with wipe on poly. Everything looks good except when I look at the top at a glancing angle I can see distortion from braces or ?? There's nothing I can do at this p...
