Re: Jaguar
In one of the german speaking forums i am mostly active there is link to such a plan. I don't know how close to the original it is (and actually i do not mind - although i am currently building a bass based on the Jaguar bass design). So please contact me if You do not find a resource.

Re: A Redwood and Mahogany guitar From Mark Swanson
I must admit that my personal preference on acoustic guitars is a classic European combinantion of woods: spruce and maple. Despite of that if find Your combination of woods and colors very tasteful - mhmm, perhaps "distinguished" in all its variants of meaning might be a good description....

First of all - thanks for the infos. First, the way you're posting the images isn't working and they don't show! Thanks for the note. I am just using a reference to an external image in IMG-tags. I did not recognize that You must be logged in that other forum in order to see the images. At present i...

Finish in violet transparent
Hi, this question concerns a guitar project i have already shown in a sketch: http://www.gitarrebassbau.de/download/file.php?id=15074&mode=view/StormyMonday.morps.small.jpg Meanwhile the instrument is short before i can put strings on it (saddle is missing, will be brass). http://www.gitarrebass...

Re: Cheap Flying V - strings to high
Professionals ... please close Your eyes ... my thread gives an example whow to do this in the kitchen with a minimum set of tools. I usually use a chisel to smooth the surfaces and then glue in some thin veneer if necessary (0.6 mm - allows sufficiently fine control of the depth of the pocket). Jus...

Re: source for low impedance pickups
And if You do not intend so, i would be a bit surprised if one of the custom pickup makers was not able to build a low Z PU according to Your specs. It more or less reduces on using a shorter and thicker wire. Guitar PUs aren't that complicated. In addition to the info above (the music electronics f...

Re: Ergonomic bass designs
Trying the body with a bass neck was pretty surprising: first of all the shape does not work at all with the long scale. These ergonomic shapes apparently a pretty radical - they feel either great or are as uncomfortable as can be. Surprising? Maybe in its radicality. Moreover i had the desire to ha...

But that was not my build, it was Aaron's.charlie wood wrote: Very nice job on that V - I love the headstock which sort of reminds me of the Jackson Roswell guitar - which Ive always liked... for pure alien cool factor!
Mine is a very different concept going away from Gibson's shape.

Re: Ergonomic bass designs
I am re-using an existing non twisted neck. So the neck itself may be rotated a bit but not twisted. If i would build from scratch i would probably dare the twist.... Today i cut the raw body. Indeed the upper bow collides with my breast. Let's see how far i'll be able to compensate by thorough cont...

Re: Five String Flying V bass
And how do You deal with the neck heaviness of the V?
I am still fiddling around a bit with the strap pin positions of my Vs (guitar and bass, both semi-hollow).

Re: Ergonomic bass designs
By the way, did you mention for whom this guitar would be made? I am a DIY builder and make this instrument for myself. Do you have some particular tendon or joint issues that require such a design? I have. In my left lower arm. Not on guitar but on bass - i cannot play scale lengths above 32"...

Re: Ergonomic bass designs
considering all these suggestions i think much of the details of the cutouts depends on the desired playing position. Hunter's guitar, for example, seems to be optimized for the flat position on the right leg he prefers (which apperas logical regarding the long scale of his instrument and his playin...

Wow, interesting, that one will become really pretty. BTW, i arrive at a fairly similar model in my current attempts (the red contour is actually what i am building): http://www.gitarrebassbau.de/download/file.php?id=15074&mode=view/StormyMonday.morps.small.jpg BTW: the instrument will be a &quo...

Thanks for the welcome; i am indeed new and intend to use this forum occasionally when it comes to sharing info or seeking help in special questions which might be of broader interest - respecting the high level i see here. Most of my build threads are communicated in two german forums.

Re: Ergonomic bass designs
That's a very interesting design, thank You - and very appealing. Remarkably: again this short distance from the strings to the legs while sitting. and the position of the "leg cutaway". Looks as if should quickly setup a prototype from some rests of wood... I think it might be worthwile t...

Ergonomic bass designs
A quick introduction first: i am a hobbyist builder doing one or the other instrument over the decades of my life. Currently i have successfully done two guitars and two basses, mostly unconventional or demanding (an archtop guitar as my second build). currently I am in the early stages of brainstor...

Nice build. Which scale? Short as done by Gibson?
