Re: New guitar, daughters Christmas present
Thank you. If you bought it on ebay I am sure they would ship it here also. I will look to see if I can source it locally first though. I have purchased my sanding bobbins from the UK and a few other items, so I am not opposed to purchasing out of the US, if I can not find it locally. I have to say ...

Re: New guitar, daughters Christmas present
I have 4 bookmached pieces with greens yellows and browns, was yours like that too or was it close to the finished product? I had 5 set but to screwed up the one so bad it became fire wood, I had a nightmare of a time trying to fill the holes and stablized the top from falling apart when I routed th...

If your going to make the mold consider watching some auto body videos I have seen some where they make molds out of epoxy to make new fenders and such. Making molds of the top and bottom plates using bondo or some fiber glass molds would probably result in much lighter and durable molds. I am not t...

Re: Inlay block pearl without removing frets?
You don't really need anything else to do inlay, I did all this freehand with a dremel. IMGP3012.JPG I think your hand must be steady as a surgeons. no way I could free hand that. I would need a template. Jedi You might want to contact a guy who does scalloped necks. I have sent a couple of guitar ...

Re: Gas Can Electric Guitar?
It wouldn't have to be a neck through if you build a piece through the can and make a place to bolt on a conventional neck. We found the neck through easier to implement as we could never really work out a suitable way of doing the neck joint without hacking up the can . We generally found the less...

Re: does it matter if strings dont perfectly line up with the center of poles?
What type of mounting did you use? If you used pickup rings, just bend the ears on the pickup to move it a tiny bit if it is more than say 1/8 inch it might not work, but I have do this for guitars I was setting up. If you used a pick-guard you could always make a new one, and make the adjustment th...

Re: 2 bass questions: stacked vol/tone config and pbass p/u config
If you were a guitar player, that used your volume to control breakup a lot I would say volume on top. But if it your bass try it that way for awhile, and if you end up not liking that switch it. It doesn't take that long and then you will know which way you like best. As to the pickups I don't real...

Re: downtuned tuning problems with a six string electric
Misha Mansoor who plays guitar in the progressive metal band Periphery, Plays 8 and 7 string instruments also, so that may be the way he gets extra low end. I doubt he is using standard length 6 strings for that extreme low end, onstage with the tuning stability issues, when he has all the 7 and 8 s...

Re: Member looking for a black pickguard to replace white on Fender G5
I know there are a few cnc owners out there, that could do the job. Why now contact one of them to do the job If you give them the original for a template the can make a new one for you. Jamie Unden comes to mind. I am sure he would charge a set up fee but if you cant make one your self, that might ...

Re: Chad McCormack's Newest: Equator Semi-Hollow #004
I was wondering if you have tried the design in a higher gain situation. Does is feed back without the center block? I always thought unless you have a center block the guitar would be more prone to feedback, but I don't know that to be a hard fact, so I was just curious as to how it responds in hig...

Very cool design.
I have a friend that plays sitting down and has always plays his guitar with the area of the lower bout against his leg, instead of balancing the waist cut on his leg.
I could see him really liking the design you made.

Very nice work I still love the neck joint. It seems so smooth to the hand, On your first equator you did not take picks of how you joined the neck to the body do you have any this time around? Did you use a center block?

Re: Knotty pine mahogany sandwich, yummy?
I have had many s type guitars redone with new body same pick guard and there was a difference.
But here is a video to watch that demos to identical guitars except for the body wood. I hear a difference.
