Tool chest/ Tool organization?

Dear MIMF, If there's another shutdown, I'm thinking of organizing my tools properly. Currently, I have them in Systainers or a wooden ship's chest (ironically bought secondhand in Sacramento). Would you mind showing me your toolchest/cabinet/organization? -Matt ps. I realized that I posted a simila...

Re: Need advice on "high end" parts for dreadnaught

Hey Peter,

I'd take a Wilcox over a Somogyi any day. I think that your friend should be tickled pink with your guitar.
If you're around Alameda, you're welcome to stop by for some home made gelato (assuming the fires get under control)

Getting back into building- tips?

Hey MIMF, I haven't built an instrument for about 8-9 years, despite being nuts about it during dental school. I'll be building a trio of tenor ukuleles with koa (I've dimensioned, joined, and thicknessed them). Are there any special things I should consider? Any tips on jigs? FWIW, I'll be using th...

Socially distanced dining

With this COVID thing going on, it's sorta hard to have dates...or friends over normally. To solve that problem, I've been making the outdoor patio area a "socially distanced dining area." How about you'all? Any fun projects/ideas? MVIMG_20200723_210349.jpg IMG_20200723_172620.jpg I'm not sure if I ...

Hey Patrick,

I know this is a super late reply, but you're a good man.
Also, nice work.

Hope you're staying healthy during this COVID time

Re: BBQ grill handles? Any recommendations?

Hey everyone, I ended up getting tied up with COVID protocols for reopening. It's been really hard to get PPE (gloves, masks, gowns) in addition to dealing with the SBA (EIDL, PPP, CARES, as things were first come first served). After staring at the Osage Orange for weeks, I just bought some cherry ...

Re: June 2020- How/What is everyone doing?

Also, bear in mind that there's no 100% standardized protocol set for us.
CDC/ADA/OSHA has just copied and pasted from the OR protocols (negative pressure rooms).
AGD/WISHA has a modified protocol that makes more sense.

It's been extremely frustrating on our end.

Re: June 2020- How/What is everyone doing?

I've been trying to help out my fellow dentists with setting up safety protocols. Here's mine: 1. All staff are temperature checked first thing in the morning. Staff with symptoms are sent home to self-quarentine. 2. Prescreen patients before they get in the office 3. Disinfect hands.  Temperature s...

Re: Searching for a good respirator

Just bumping this thread.

With good American N95's in short supply, I've been resorting to Chinese KN95 from a trusted surgical supplier.
However, the quality isn't the same.

I'd appreciate tips on good respirators.

No kids yet. Need a wifey first.

Heard from a number of patients who've been doing that with varied success.
