Re: Radius Dish Help

I have decided to try turnibg the dish on my lathe. I have the radius dish pdf print out from the library with measurements. Don't have it to scale but plan to draw it out and cut on bs. Its on a legal sheet and I don't see a way to determine the length embedded in the drawing. 28 units across whic...

Re: Radius Dish Help

This was the setup I used to make dishes. Blank mounted on a Lazy-Susan bearing on sheet of plywood, rails that router rides on mounted inside frame that also holds dust collection at each end. The router bit spins the dish while cutting the radius, so you only need to go to the center. Took on aver...

Re: Red Tip Photina wood

Try fuming it in a closed container with a small dish of ammonia added. It should darken it considerably.

Re: Adding set to a table saw blade

I have the Stew-Mac blade and use it in my Delta cabinet saw. Cuts like a charm for medium(.023") fret wire.

Re: Bending purpleheart

If bending sides, try a sandwich of wood at about .080" spritzed with water, wrapped in craft paper, wrapped in foil shinny side in, blanket on top, metal slats top and bottom. Bend at 300*ish F . You might want to watch Grant Golz vid on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Jr124qCNkw . I ...

Re: Walnut back and sides question

Side braces have to be inlet ...

Goodwind Kites. https://goodwinds.com/ for carbon fiber flats for neck stiffeners. Inexpensive with cheap shipping to the states but expensive shipping to Canada. Great prices on fiberglass rods for go-bars as well.

Re: hide glue vs bone glue?

Gordon, I bought from LeeValley the first time I used HHG, then found a vendor on ebay for Milligan & Higgins 192g strength high clarity. Only thing I would use the LeeValley stuff for now is glueing bridges.
