Re: Where to get vintage wood tuner pegs?

I did a little more looking and even without seeing it, assuming the numbers you gave are accurate, it was made in 1925. The UG is the model, the 174 on the inside is a batch number, the 3994 is the serial number. From what I found this model was discontinued at serial number 4000. They were made fr...

Re: Where to get vintage wood tuner pegs?

I reread your post and realized that you were looking for wood pegs. This brings up a couple of issues. If the ukulele is circa 30's wood pegs would not been used, virtually all manufacturers had switched to "patent" peg, still friction but made from metal. Number two, Washburn (named for George Was...

Five Years In The Making...

I haven't posted for a long time. I took a commission for a harp guitar 5 years ago, and life got in the way. I was working at the music shop 40 hours a week and doing more repairs than I really wanted, but Kauai is a small island and if I didn't do it, it had to go off island, most time to the main...

Re: Short Mtn Dulcimer Scale Length

Sorry to be so late into this... but I have built many of what I called "travelin"" dulcimers. 16" scale tuned DAD one octave higher than full scale. Standard strings no problems and it gives one another voice when played with a standard dulcimer.

Re: Martin X neck joint

Finger boards and bridges on Martin HPL tops are glued with gel super glue. Frankly, if the damage is as bad as you describe, for a guitar worth only around $400 I would let it go...
