Re: classical spanish string spacing for small female player

She said she would prefer smaller then standard width, but she would definitely like it to still feel wider then her steel string. So it seems like 48-49mm is a good compromise. I think I will go with that and a 24" radius fingerboard. Not quite a crossover, but it should feel very proportional...

Re: classical spanish string spacing for small female player

well, she's not a customer, she is my girlfriend, hopefully she will be my fiancee before too long. But I will talk to her and see what she thinks.

I think if she is open to it, I will copy the martin dimensions.

Re: classical spanish string spacing for small female player

Hi Chuck, Sorry, I can't watch youtube with the internet we have in Papua New Guinea but She can play a standard classical, she can very well. I just want to make the guitar ideal for her, and the standard width is probably not ideal. I don't want to commit a heresy, but I do want to make the string...

classical spanish string spacing for small female player

Hi, so I am making my first acoustic using "tradition and technology" and I am basically following the book, but the guitar will be for my girlfriend who has, small but strong hands, and is a very skilled player. The string spacing and fingerboard width of her Ibanez steel string feels ver...

Re: neck body joint on a classical

Wow, Ok. Thanks for all the really great and informative responses. I will go with a tenon joint instead of the traditional one. I just feel like it would be a shame to have the instrument become unplayable after a few years of warping, and have no way to correct it. I will also probably do away wit...

neck body joint on a classical

Hi, I have built an electric posted last year, and now I am excited about building my first acoustic. I have "guitarmaking tradition and technology" and I am planning on basically building the classical spanish guitar that he builds, but I am concerned about the neck/body joint. I live in ...

Re: built for amplification advice

I think I am going to go with the LR Baggs Anthem system. they make a version of it called the stagepro that allows for some EQ and fading between the piezo and the internal mike, and also comes with a side-mount EQ/battery box. After a lot of review reading, the second hand impression seems to be t...

built for amplification advice

So I built a semi-hollow electric that I felt came out well, and now I am planning my first acoustic. I know I want to design it for amplified performances, so I was looking for preamps and pickups at stumac and it seemed to me like everything they offer is designed to be added to an already complet...
