Re: quick question

I bought some from eBay/chinese vendor that were listed as 6R, for a right handed guitar, so that's my experience.

Recommmendations for maple neck

I read through a ton of stuff here, still somewhat vague on what I want. I am refurbing an old Suzuki tele knock off (rosewood board, funky headstock shape), really converting it to a 'tribute' kind of guitar. To that end, I ordered (since I have had literally NO time in a hear to try build one) an ...

Re: Thinking of starting another project

Parts like pickups and pots (and the associated caps and wires) make a great deal of difference in guitars at that level. Duncan has some nice pickups you can drop in there, like the lil' 59, Hotrails, etc. Better pots and shielding would maximize the pickups.

Re: 1st Guitar build - father/son project

Stainting/Dying, you can do separately, if desired. Once you start applying the finish, you want to have your set/glued-in neck installed to get a seamless finish. At least, in most cases...

Re: Barnes and Noble Woes

My kids wanted to get me an e-reader/tablet, and the new Nook HD had just come out, was spec'd better than the Kindle Fire, had expansion, etc. But, they got me a Kindle Fire HD. In retrospect, a better decision at that point. Out here, we have Half Price Books, a small change, the B&N stores, a...

Re: What factors allow lower action on some guitars than others?

Just read an article regarding how low is TOO low... megaspeed shredders like low action, and use lighter strings for the most part. Blues or other styles that do lots of bends and pulls like a bit higher to 'bite' into the string, and also are mostly heavy gauge. The heavier strings have more 'arc'...

I am astounded by your craftmanship and really envious of your talent. I hate you...I love you...you know how that goes... I liked the black Oceana, and the duo in the first post. Your sparkles just look so clean, and the way you describe the technique makes so much sense.

I am very impressed...

Saved from the garbage!

My part-time job on weekends involves e-waste collection as a fundraising process for non-profits. I see some interesting things come through. The boss says we can tag things we are interested in and he may let us have it. I have obtained a few amps to fix, etc. About a year ago, a kid walked in to ...
