Re: Tenor Flute

Hello Daniel, are you still struggling with the flute? Yes I think you have carved out too much of the embouchure. You haven't said what the flute is made of, wood I assume. If so you could make a lip plate and correct the embouchure that way, in effect making a new one. As to the tone holes , I wou...

I have been trying to find a good method of disinfecting the mouthpiece of wind instruments, particularly wooden ones. Any suggestions?

Re: Native American flute help request.

If you are still looking for info on the NAF with special tuning I would suggest you build the flute as per NAF windway but put the tone holes as per a bamboo flute. You can find the spacings on line.

Clay Schaeffer has just reminded me of a didge I saw in Kuranda, Qld ,Australia which was circular. In effect it was a tube that had been routed into a square of timber(two halves glued together). The bore was conical. Ideal for travelling.

I have not seen joints with O rings but you could use telescoping brass tube. The only break down didges I have seen were made from plastic irrigation stand pipes where one size slides into another. They lock together with a threaded taper lock. This also makes them 'tuneable'.

Ocarina windway

I am wishing to make an Ocarina out of a beer bottle. Does anyone have a formula for calculating the size of the windway and labium for any given chamber volume?
