Re: The shiniest finish for classical guitar back/sides

The more I try to "rush" the finish, the longer it ultimately takes. For "shiney" you will need to spend more time on prep work. "Shiney" shows all the scratches and mole hills. If you are only doing one, David King's suggestion of using Mohawk spray can lacquer might ...

The shiniest finish for classical guitar back/sides

Hi luthiers, What's the shiniest finish that can give a deep clear gloss look in shortest time? I've never had any luck with brushing. Brush marks are always visible. French polishing takes waaaay too long. However wiping on thinned lacquer is what I've found best so far. Never tried spraying. Maybe...

Re: Thicknessing back and sides with a jointer

Thanks guys for all the input.

Freeman Keller, I think I can find a woodworking shop to do it for some payment. Thanks.

Thicknessing back and sides with a jointer

Hi,

I don't have a drum sander and am not intending to buy one as they are way too expensive for my budget however I have a jointer.

Has anyone tried thicknessing back and sides with a jointer? What are other options if any?

Thanks, Mike

Is primer necessary?

Hi,

What is a primer and why is it necessary to apply before lacquer? This is to finish a classical guitar.

Thanks

Are these usable for finishing?

Hi,

Are any of these products good for lacquer/shellac finishing a classical guitar? I want the back/sides look as if there's a layer of glass on them. :)
